Default Carrefour Torreveija

Has anyone in that area ever tried getting money out of them its impossible. Whilst on holiday I shredded my tyre on four large bolts which they had left sticking up out of the ground in a parking bay. I took receipt for tyre in to the shop, filled in their complaints form and the lady customer services rep. said they would contact me. I returned to France the next day and have for the past 3 months tried to get them to refund my money. They have promised to bank it, (twice) but then informed me as THEY DONT have a bank account this cannot be done. They have promised to send money in post (twice) but that also has not materialised. They
They say it is too expensive to send me the money in the post but that it is waiting at the store for me to pick up when I return to Spain. I have told them repeatedly I was on Holiday but they dont seem to comprehend this.
Talk about impossible they have admitted negligance in leaving the bolts in the parking bay and have told me I can have my money back but have made it impossible to get. Solicitors may be the answer when I can find one that is not just for housing
Any ideas

Hi disgruntled, sorry to hear about your problems at Carrefour in Torrevieja, please don't let it out on the forum though by posting repeat posts. I'm sure you will get a reply as soon as someone has something to contribute. I've left this one now and deleted the other post in the general forum.

Out of curiosity how much money are we talking about here?

Default Carrefour

The only tyre I could get was 130eurosits for a Toyota Estima and they are wide tyres. Totally shredded tyre replacement only option. Carrefour acknowledged fault and removed bolts from parking bay within half hour so no-one else after me could do it.
Told my husband on the phone result of firm working for them. Still negligent tho as bolts were on actual parking bay otherwise would be ambiguous

Just thought I would also say it is not just the cost of the tyre it is the principal of the matter. This is a very very large firm who were negligant and have admitted so to us

Hi Disgruntled have you tried emailing Carrefour's head office with a summary of the situation? Also do you have the contact details of who you spoke to in the Torreveija store?

If they claim to have the money waiting for you in the store can you not send a friend to pick it up?

Have , have spoken to Madrid about 5 times, you go round in circles, Torreveija said speak to Madrid as which I did Madrid phoned Torr. manager they said they would pay into Bank, gave details, 10 days later they say need swift code, to pay lady waiting at the Bank. 10 days later I phoned cant pay they dont have a Bank Account. Will send it by cash, this didnt arrive phoned again will send it by Registered Post, this hasnt arrived. Spoke to Madrid again would I please email, have dont that usual automated reply we are trying to find a rapid solution.
Now sent email to my own Carrefour headquarters with my loyalty card number to get solutions. First spoke to and have been continued to be promised by a Christina Rojamora at the Torr. Store, and spoken to a Virginia and a Marovar in Madrid. Also spoke to a gentleman 2 days ago in Torr who refused to give his name and wont put us thro to the manager. Dont speak Spanish
No I cant get friend to pick up as we were on holiday and I dont know anyone in Torr. my sister has a place there but isnt going back until at least May.
Its really frustrating, I dont see why they cant send money in post, or bank or send vouchers for me to spend at Carrefour in France.
Explained right from off we dont live in Spain and were on holiday this is probably why they keep promising but not doing anything.

I would have thought in the worst case they could have the cash ready for collection at your local branch in France...even if they can't manage to pay it into the bank...

Being so far away you will find it difficult to do anything about this.

In Spain every company has "hojas de reclamacion" - for your situation for example, this should have been filled out and then sent on to the consumer organisation in Alicante...

Your best bet is probably let your sister take care of it in May...

Thanks Greg....I leant something new today too......we've not had to return anything so far, like Disgruntled I would have expected the money to be sent to me if I'd been on vacation....

It does sound like bureaucracy gone mad if Carrefour cannot pay the money into a bank account/send a cheque or arrange collection at Disgruntled’s local Carrefour.......oh well had my rant now.......still prefer Spain
