SWMBO is often having to go to the aid of a Brit (for translating purposes) who used a load of Brit builders, plumbers and electricians and was of course ripped off financially and got very poor workmanship to boot. Most of it has had to be ripped out and Spanish builders brought in to do the job properly. That works out expensive. Check with your non Brit neighbours and find out who they recommend - yes some will point you in the direction of a good Brit.
There are too many Brits who used to do a bit of DIY at home in the 'auld country' then set up as craftsmen here. They charge the earth and do a thoroughly bad job. NOTE I am not saying they are all a bad lot but there are a lot who are. |

There are a lot going back because of the economic situation, If British Television goes off and the can't see Coronation Street or Eastenders, Many more will follow.

Same advice, rent first, learn the language, integrate etc Baldilocks, you seem to have had a bad time with the John Wayne types. I have found many of them have gone back to the "auld country" at least up here in the north of the costa blanca.

hi paul
my boyfriend has an apartment just near flamenca beach comercial centre(bout 10 mins walk) in a nice little urb if you need a place to rent while you looked around in that area. if you want any more info just pm me and ill let you have his details. its a lovely area we have covered quite a lot of it. 2 years ago we drove down from england to the apartment just to take down a few bits of furniture, it was brilliant. Unfortunately, due to work commitments from both of us we hardly get to the apartment much now so he is thinking of selling. anyway hope all goes well and enjoy spain, it really is lovely to wake up every morning with the sun on your back. |
