Hi Danny, It depends on the exchange rate, your buying power and the desperation of the people who are selling. I would secure the services of a foreign exchange company. They will advise of pound / euro exchange rates. You can reserve euros now or wait for the pound to rise to a target that you set.
My personal opinion would be to get a flight and come see what is on offer now. There are some great bargains available right now, as people struggle to pay their mortgages and just want to unload their property.
Most apartments have been reduced by 20/25,000 euro while villas are being reduced by 100,000s so a real bargain.
Example if you sent 250,000 sterling now you would have 265,000 euro and could snap up a villa of 350,000 euro. If you wait for the pound to rise to say 1,25 (dont think this will happen though) you would have 312,000 euro but will that bargain villa still be there?
The difference is 47,500 euro. So if you buy now you could have a saving of 100k or wait and save 47k?
It is a crazy situation that we are all in. My philosophy is "Just do it!"
