Have you got a car? If not the bus goes between Alicante City and Cartegena via Santa Pola, Guardamar, Torrevieja, San Pedro de Pinatar, and Cartegena (The port area and Roman ampitheatre are worth a visit.)
Guardamar has great beaches, In Torrevieja, the area around the harbour and night market are worth a walk round in the evening. (We went last night) How long are you here for.. The Moors and Christians festivals start within the next couple of weeks. If you haven't seen one, they are not to be missed. The first one is in Rojales on 4th and 5th July..You will need a car, but can get there in 30 minutes from Playa Flamenca. It starts about 8pm but be there earlier to get a good view. The costumes are amazing. Every night during the week before there are free open air disco's starting at midnight. CD |

house by the pool... See the thread about the Alicante Hogueras on 24th. Where beautiful figures are put on display, then set fire to...Don't ask me why, but I'm sure someone will be able to give a logical reason.

There is a group of cave houses in Rojales that go back centuries. One is now the cave bar, a couple of others are artists workshops and sale rooms. They did have a sunday market there, but not any more. Not really much to see at the moment.

Try the cave house restaurant in San Miguel de Salinas. Great food, great atmosphere. Food takes a while as is all freshly cooked. I've never come out of there sober.
