    Default Passport/ Visa

We will be spending the period Dec. 29 - March 29 in Duquesa at the end of the year. We are limited to a 3 month stay without a Visa.
At the end of the 3 months we want to take a sde-trip to finish off. One of the places under consideration is the Canary Islands.

Are the Canary Islands considered a part of Spain for Passport/Visa?

    Smile Canaries and Spain

    Hi

Think you will find the Canaries come under the Schengen agreement the same as Spain and most of the EU....... so think you would have a problem.... Why not nip over there during you stay... no worries then... enjoy the warm climate for a few days.....

    Thank you Goatherd.

WE are now considering a week in late Feb. or early Mar. Anyone have any reccomendations as to an "all-inclusive" resort? Also reccomendations as to which Island is best suited to an older couple (early 70's) looking for relaxation but near enough to town (or in town) for walk-abouts?

Tenerife is probably the most popular for a winter break, having an excellent climate and less windy than the other islands with Las Americas being the busiest tourist area and Las Palmas on Gran Canaria being the capital city of the island group.
Would suggest that you research on the internet which would suit you best.
There is a very interesting trip to the Teide national park on Tenerife where you can take a lift to the top of the volcano.
Official Canary Islands Tourism- The Canaries holidays, travel to , weather in , climate, hotels, bungalows, accommodations, sun, maps, apartments
Take a look here and you will find all the information you want.
    Good luck.

We have booked the week of February 14 - 21 at the Barcelo Margaritas in Gran Canaria.

Any "must do's" or "don't miss" while we are there?

    I came across this

Gran Canaria Events and Festivals in February - Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain

    • arnaval - early February, held throughout the island of Gran Canaria, carnival festivities are particularly concentrated in and around the island's capital of Las Palmas, featuring a Carnival Queen competition, drag acts, a children's carnival, parades, Latin dancing, a strong party atmosphere and many famous celebrities.

    • Festival de Opera - early February, a major international opera festival around the Canary Islands, with the main events being held at the Teatro Pérez Daldós in Las Palmas.

    • Festival of Almond Blossom - early February, a traditional festival held throughout Gran Canaria, particularly around the central Tejeda area, as springtime approaches and the almond trees begin to flower. Always popular with tourists, highlights include folk dancing, concerts, food stalls and almond wine tasting.

but they may be a little early for you.

Also the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Ayuntamiento website > culture section has lots of information on interesting places to visit (it's in Spanish but the Tourist Office website is translated and also offers great ideas)

Thinks that if all economists were laid end to end, they would not reach a conclusion

Vist Maspalomas beach. One of the best beaches in Europe. Also Peurto Mogan is a very pretty little Marina. Lots of boat trips etc. Bubbles resturant in the commercial centre in Peurto Rico for good seafood. Will try to think of some others
