Smile Moving to Barcelona: Housing Suggestions/Accomodation

Hi everyone,

I'm 26 and moving to Barcelona at the end of September from San Diego to get certified to teach English. I'm trying to find somewhere to live temporarily, and am feeling completely overwhelmed by the amount of information out there. Hostels seems really expensive (or at least a lot more expensive than I had initially anticipated) and I'm trying to find a trustworthy source for accomodations online that I can understand. Does anyone have any good feedback or suggestions re: the search for housing in Barcelona? i need to find something furnished and somewhere safe and trustworthy, preferrably around people that I can make friends with.

Thank you so much in advance for anyone who can help me.

Best,

Krysten

If you google around on different forums you´ll find mostly all the same answers.

I would try to stay near the school since you go there everyday. In the centre Eixample and St.Gervasi are nice, safe and have excellent transportation links, you´ll never need a car. Lots to do and many people to hang out with.

Sorry for the delayed reply. There are many apartments to rent within walking or short Metro distance of the university. Some owners specialize in student rentals where you will be nearby to others in the same situation. But no matter where you stay you will find that if you reach out to your neighbors you usually will find the hospitality returned.
