      Hi fee,

To each their own. Everyone has their likes and dislikes.

But here's some info, just so you don't make the wrong decision based on something you don't know:

Barcelona is not Sitges and Sitges is not Barcelona. They are VERY different.

Also, unless your husband is obliged to travel for his job between Barcelona and Sitges, he will probably not do it daily. They are too far apart to commute on a daily basis without obligations. Not to mention expensive, considering gas and toll road.

As for rentals, neither Barcelona nor Sitges will be "cheap". If you want something more affordable, then look around Castelldefells, Gava, Cubelles, etc. Your kids will also surely appreciate those areas more than the Barcelona city areas.

Oh and on a last note, are you aware that in Barcelona they speak "Catalan"? It's NOT Spanish! Some even say, Barcelona is NOT Spain....

Beware and take this into account, especially when you have three children which need to go to school. Not to mention a husband who wants to earn a living as a "businessman.

      Hi there Fee

I live in central Barcelona and agree with what Greg says. You also mention Igualada; this is an inland town, about 60 km away from Barcelona. These less touristy towns are a good option unless you have to commute to Barcelona.
      Good luck
      Valerie

      Spanish Property 2012

      Hi Greg/Valarie

Sorry I probably didn't make myself clear we are not actually intending on living in Sitges or Barcelona city we r aware of how expensive it is but we are looking near or further out from those areas as we have seen from the rental prices we know that igualada and other surrounding areas are allot cheaper, we will have enough funds to support ourselves as we also have property that we currently rent out here on top of what we have saved also we r not afraid to move around until we find a place that suits are needs. Yes I am fully aware that the kids will learn Catalan we r fine with that. Thanks for the info on the other areas to look into i will pass the message onto hubby. P.S
We recently went for a short while (Barcelona) to get info on cheaper areas about an hour away from the city they gave us some areas but just wanted to know some more!
Thanks for all your help so far will keep u posted on our progress.
